BLACK JEWEL AFROCENTRIC BOOKS FOR YOUNG READERS MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT

The Black Jewel library is a diverse collection of Afrocentric books.  It is intended to promote literacy, celebrate diversity and provide young readers with access to stories that reflect an array of cultural experiences.   We were able to start building the collection with a generous donation from a supporter who supports the vision and impact that this library can have on young readers.

This collection can be found at AFIWI GROOVE CENTRE FOR ARTS AND CULTURE at 1895 Clements Road, Unit #102, Pickering, ON, and is available to young readers and their families as a cultural and recreational resource.  

  • The annual membership fee is $25.00.  These funds go towards the maintenance and continued growth of the collection.   

  • A selection of books can be ordered on our website at https://blackjewel.ca in support of Black Jewel's vision and mission of Black Jewel is a place for those that want to elevate the growth of the black community.  

  • Members or library patrons must comply with policies regarding the borrowing, renewal, and return of materials.

  • Young patrons are invited to browse, read, books while on site.  

  • Young patrons must be under the supervision by an adult, staff or volunteer while browsing and reading books that are part of the collection.   

  • Patrons with the consent and supervision of a parent may borrow up to 2 books, for a maximum of one week. 

  • Overdue, lost, or damaged materials may incur fees or replacement costs as per library policy.
