The Black Jewel Collection is a library of Afrocentric books curated for early readers. It is designed to promote access to stories that reflect cultural identity and an array of cultural experiences, values and heritage.
Local families with young readers are welcome to browse the collection, choose a book and spend some time reading on site or at home with their young readers. The goal of the collection is to strengthen literacy skills while building self-esteem, cultural identity, pride and connectivity. A reading guide is provided to enhance the learning experience.
These books make wonderful gifts for birthdays, holidays, baby showers or a great addition to your child’s personal book collection.
