We envision a space that transcends the traditional boundaries of a cultural center. A gathering space is dedicated to community engagement for local members of the Black community. Durham region is rich in diversity and culture, and we are proud to contribute to its vibrancy. It will stand as a beacon of heritage and culture.

Black Jewel is black led and black serving nonprofit organization. Our mission is to establish dynamic community space that nurtures black culture, promotes cultural exchange, champions creativity as well as personal and professional growth.
Embracing our culture is a source of strength, resilience. and empowerment for individuals and our community at large. Gaining a deeper understanding of our heritage and culture shapes our cultural identity and enables us to challenge stereotypes, misconceptions and racism. We must advocate for spaces that stimulates our sense of belonging and pride within the Black Community.

Building Up Our Community
Building a strong community starts with a shared vision, open communication, and inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued. It thrives on trust, participation, and leadership, encouraging members to connect, support one another and take an active role in shaping their environment.
